Day 2: Fake TGP under way…

Today’s work - Lucky and I are trying to get my Fake TGP up and running. This is a lot of work - well, not really. Just detail work.

What is a fake TGP? Well, that’s complicated, but here’s my understanding: A fake TGP is a TGP that doesn’t accept submissions by outside webmasters. Instead, you begin by seeding it with free hosted galleries you pick up from your sponsor, and then subit your own galleries to it as you complete them, to keep it looking fresh. It gathers up traffic, then you can feed that traffic to your free sites, to blogs, or whatever floats your boat.

If I’m wrong, or missing the point well hey - I’m a newbie :)

Anyway, my priority for starting this whole deal was:

1. pick up a few good keyword domains.
2. select a few good sponsors (keep the number low at first!)
3. get a good fake TGP so that as I build galleries, I get more ‘mileage’ from them. Include a banner to this recip on galleries I submit, if the TGP allows it.
4. build one freesite and one gallery a day. Submit them everywhere appropriate, and add them to my Fake TGP also.

May not be an award winning plan - and I’ll bet I’ll find things I’m doing wrong - but it’s a good start. Lucky and I are writing the Fake TGP in PHP/MySQL, with a full administration backend so I don’t have to work so hard maintaining it - banner management, etc. Should be a good start and a hell of a lot cheaper than buying - hey, if you have the skills, why not?

Well, the administration page is up so I’m off to start getting my ’seed’ galleries in while Lucky finishes the rest of the app. Should be up and running Monday - anyone else with a Fake TGP who wants to do a link trade, drop me an email! I’ll keep you, my loyal readers, informed of how my traffic does or doesn’t grow :)
