Grains of wheat on a chessboard
I don’t know if you’ve ever heard the fable about the advisor to a king who, having provided particularly valuable services, was told he could have anything that he asked for. Now this was a very clever advisor and he knew that if he asked for the kingdom, his wish would be denied - but he found another way to get his desire. He asked the King to take a chessboard, and in the first square place one grain of wheat, the second two grains, the third four grains, and so on, doubling at each square. The king foolishly agreed and was bankrupted by the scheme - for before he reached even the middle of the board, he needed more wheat than was available in all the granaries in the entire kingdom.
That’s the power of doubling. But what does it have to do with me?
Well, it turns out that my sales have doubled every month since I started in the industry. Now at first, that wasn’t very much money - but the idea was to work hard, and be patient. So I went from one sale in July - to four sales in August (yeah thats more than doubling, I know) to nine sales in September - and so far this month I ALREADY have five sales, so I’m pretty confident I will get eighteen and double again. And almost all of these have been revshare sales - a bit smaller than pay per sign up BUT on sites that have (or seem to me they would have) good retention, like Sapphic Erotica. I got up this morning to my fifth sale and my first $100 of revenue for the month.
If this keeps up I will hit around $800 next month, and the month after that $1600… Wow! I wonder how many months I can keep doubling…. if I could get to $3200 a month and hold there for a few months I’d be VERY very happy! The power of blogs is their amazing conversion rate - my all time conversions are at 1:215, with a 1:71 ratio this month!
