Blog Post Builder Tool
Twan recently updated one of his latest tools, the Blog Post Builder. Now at version 0.4, this handy tool allows you to quickly build blog posts, pull thumbnails from free hosted galleries, and even create your own templates for posting. It’s a nice and handy piece of work, and if I didn’t already have a fantastic blog post inventory system (built by resident code monkey Lucky) I’d probably be using it more. I think many adult bloggers have a blind spot when it comes to managing our post inventory. It’s very easy to get started blogging, and as you write creative and unique posts and your traffic grows, it’s easy to forget how valuable that work is. The time you’ve spent researching valuable keywords and generating interesting and relevant posts is something that you need to leverage as a business owner.
But how do you do that?
Thomas Byers talks about saving all your posts in text files so they can be reused, and I think that’s absolutely one way to do it. Another way (a way we used early on) is to have a general blog where you post one copy of everything, categorized, and then copy it to your other blogs when you start a new project. If you’re good with PHP and MySQL you might even make a database for your posts, like Lucky and I did. The important thing is to have a system and start using it as soon as possible. Once you are saving copies of every post before you add it to one of your blogs, you will have a rich resource to use to build fast SEO optimized sites, fill entire new blogs, or do almost anything you can imagine. And if something goes wrong and a free blog host folds - you haven’t lost your work. Just start a new blog and copy your posts in!
Remember - if your blog is a storefront, then your posts are inventory. Manage your inventory!
